This was the perfect study course to pass my General Life & Health. The recommendation to watch the videos while following along in the book made a big difference in my retaining the information. All of the stories and little tricks to remember things really do work when it comes to memory aids. The practice tests are key to becoming familiar with the material, and helped me feel confident going into the test. Got an 81 and took 4 weeks to study.
Took my exam this morning and passed on the 1st attempt. Such a great course to use, highly recommended!
I highly recommend taking the General Lines Life and Health course with America’s Professor. Jack’s infectious energy and knack for spinning stories to illustrate complex concepts made the material come alive. His teaching style was so effective, I felt confident going into the exam and aced it on my first try! Thanks for the rockstar instruction, Jack.
I had no experience in the insurance world, and I took this class and passed my exam on the first try! This course is easy to use and makes understanding the concepts a walk in the park! I will highly recommend this course to any and everyone!
I’ve been in the business since 1990 and retired five years ago. I had let my TX life/health insurance lapse. I decided to get back due to a business opportunity and needed to retake the exam. This course was excellent for knocking out the cobwebs and refreshing your knowledge.
I had a phenomenal experience using America’s Professor. Jack was very engaging and knowledgeable, and I truly enjoyed my entire learning experience. I greatly appreciated the videos as well as the practice tests. I felt very prepared as I entered my exam and passed the first time. I would highly recommend America’s Professor to anyone.
America’s Professor prepared me extremely well for the TX life and health exam. I was extremely confident in many of the questions, due to them being roughly the same as the study material’s questions. Jack’s methods for remembering things that he shares in the videos were very helpful to me. I passed my exam with an 89 on my first attempt! Would recommend America’s Professor to anyone taking this exam. As long as you complete the entire course, and take the exam shortly after completion, I believe you will pass.
Jack is a great teacher. Just follow him and go over the questions. Don’t wait too long to take the exam. The questions are easy to understand and are a good measure guide if you know the material. I passed the exam on the first try. I am glad I got this course.
I pass the test of my first try. I will highly recommend this course for sure!! The lectures and test questions are very helpful for preparing the test. I tried to test another online exam before the testing day and I was freaking out because I found there were some details that wasn’t show in the lecture. DON’T TAKE THE OTHER TEST ONLINE!!! Just follow this lectures, and make sure you will get above 90 for every test in each sections and understand each questions. You will easily pass the exam!! Especially the exam questions are very similar with the testing questions that we have in the course. Thank you Jack!! I am so happy I can pass and especially I am not the native speaker. You make this course so easy to understand!!!!
The course was very easy to follow! I did the LAH course one week then tested the following Wed and passed on the FIRST try. Then I skipped a week and did the same with the P&C, I passed again FIRST try with a 90! If you listen to the lectures and follow along in the text, you’ll be very prepared for your test. THANK YOU America’s Professor.
Highly recommend this course! I started this course 8 days before taking my exam for the Texas P&C licensing. I watched all of the videos on 1.5x speed and really appreciated the quiz after each chapter. After finishing the course and taking the provided practice exam, I took a couple other practice exams found online and felt prepared for the exam.
I took the General Lines P&C course. Jack did a great job teaching and showing exactly what you need to know. I passed the exam on the first try with an 84. Jack is correct in going through the class quickly and scheduling your exam as soon as possible. I kept going over the review questions. I will be taking the Life and Health course next.
I have now taken the General Lines P&C and Life and Health through America’s Professor and passed both exams first try! An 82 and an 85! Jack does a great job of giving you methods to remember what is important, and cut through the excess of information that is not necessarily vital to your success. I cannot recommend this enough!
I just want to say thank you! I scored 88 on my state exam, passing on the first try. The lectures are well done. The material is well organized. It seemed like an overwhelming amount of information. You were right when you said students usually recall the information when they see the test questions. I found that to be true. The practice questions were extremely helpful. They were structured just like the exam, making the exam much less intimidating.
I passed the exam the first time, scoring an 82…Thank you Jack! I thought you di a phenomenal job teaching this information. You kept it interesting and the added humor, usually at Nancy’s expense, was fun. I would highly recommend this course to anyone. I have 7 licenses and so I have taken many courses in my life, to include this course, since I accidentally allowed my license to expire…shame on me!
If there was anything that i did not really feel prepared for was the Texas specific portion of the exam, where there were only 35 questions as opposed to the 110 questions inn the main body of the test.
Overall I would give this course a solid A…..Thank you so very much!

Insurance Exam Prep Courses
To sell insurance products in Texas, you need to be licensed. To get your license, you need to pass the insurance licensing exam.
Texas doesn’t require licensing candidates to complete pre-licensing education. But the Texas insurance license exam questions are challenging, and insurance is full of tricky concepts and unfamiliar terminology.
To give yourself the best chances of passing on the first try, enroll in an exam prep course through a reputable provider, like America’s Professor.

How Many Questions Are on the Texas Insurance Exam?
The number of questions varies for each exam.
For example, the Texas Life exam has a total of 100 questions (85 questions plus 15 “pretest” questions, which do not count toward your score).
The Texas General Lines Property and Casualty exam has 150 questions (125 scorable questions plus 25 non-scorable pretest questions).
See the Texas test content outlines for more information about the number of questions on each exam.
What Score Do I Need to Pass?
The passing score is 70 for all Texas insurance exams.
Each exam has two parts—a “national” insurance section and a “state rules” section. While some states score each section separately, Texas mixes the scores together. This gives you an advantage since you only need a single score of 70 to pass.
Your exam will be scored on the spot, so you will know right away whether you passed. But you will not be told which questions you got right or wrong.
If you don’t pass on your first try, you can sign up to take the test again after a mandatory waiting period—usually 1-3 days.
There are testing centers all over Texas, from Amarillo to Dallas-Fort Worth to Corpus Christi. You can also take a proctored exam online at home. “Proctored” means someone monitors you through your computer’s webcam while you take the exam. Learn more here.
How to Study
You should set aside 35-40 hours to study for the exam. If possible, spend a full week studying, just as you would with an in-person exam prep class. If that’s not possible because you work or go to school, it’s still important to create a study schedule and stick to it.
Aim for at least 3-4 hours of study time each night for the two-week period before your exam date. Study right up until the day of the exam to keep the information fresh in your mind.
Don’t settle for low-quality “study guides” or practice quizzes online. These shortcuts simply do not provide all the information you need to pass. Instead, enroll in a comprehensive pre-licensing course through a reputable provider like America’s Professor.
Look for a course that:
- Accommodates all learning styles – Look for a course that offers a combination of video lectures, practice quizzes, and a hardcopy textbook. This way you can study in the way that works best for you, at your pace, and on your schedule.
- Offers responsive customer service – When you have questions or concerns, you need to be able to call or email for help. Look for a company with a dedicated customer support team. Ask how quickly they respond to voice messages and emails.
- Has great reviews – Reading customer reviews is one of the best ways to get candid information about a company. Look for reviews that talk about the company’s customer service, pass rates, and how well they support students.
- Is committed to your success – Look for a company that has been in business for many years or decades—one that prioritizes the customer experience and is dedicated to helping students do their best.

At the beginning of this course I knew very little about insurance. From simply following along with the videos and completing the end of chapter quizzes I was able to pass the test on the first try. I’m very happy that I used America’s Professor!
