I highly recommend America’s Professor as a fantastic choice to prepare for a licensing exam. I am thrilled to say that I just passed the Texas General Lines: Life Accident and Health licensing exam after taking America’s Professor’s online course. Let me be clear. I do not have a photographic memory. I always had to study hard to make good grades. I am 56 years old and decided to begin a new career in insurance. I was pretty nervous about taking a 150 question exam and worried I might not be able to retain all of the information necessary to pass even with the minimum required score of 70 for the state of Texas.
Unfortunately I did not have anyone to recommend a “great” pre-licensing course so I did some searching online and found America’s Professor. What attracted me the most was the video lectures by Jack Morton, the founder of America’s Professor and long time business law professor at University of Montana. Jack’s style is down to earth and entertaining. Here are the reasons why I was so successful with his material. He starts with the basics and everything builds from there and he repeats many of the concepts throughout to remind you of key information that will be tested on. The video lectures and chapters in the Study Guide are short and to the point. I was never bored because each lecture was between about 5 minutes and 20 minutes in length. After each chapter there is a quiz on the material (very well done!). After each Section (there were 4) there is a quiz and at the end there is a “Final Exam”. I read the chapter, then listened to the lecture where Jack goes through the chapter and took the quiz and move on. I went through a bunch of highlighters and made notes in the margins of the Study Guide. He leaves about 2 inches of blank page along one margin of each page to make notes/reminders of key points. Great idea! Another fantastic attribute of America’s Professor is their Customer Service. I was struggling with a few concepts after taking a quiz on a particularly difficult chapter so I called Customer Service and to my surprise I had a very pleasant conversation with Pat. He is very knowledgeable and took as much time as I needed to wrap my head around some concepts that I was struggling with. Needless to say I called Pat several times while taking the online course. He not only helped me understand the concept but boosted my confidence with encouraging words. Thanks Pat!
My approach was to complete the course in 2 weeks and take the exam right away before the material leaked out of my porous 56 year old brain. So after completing the course and taking the course’s review exam I went back and studied the areas that I found were most difficult to remember (The table of contents puts diamonds next to each chapter depending on the level of difficulty). I focused on the most difficult chapters designated by three diamonds. I read through the Glossary at the back to make sure I understood each term and took the final review exam one more time. At that point I felt ready. Remember I said I don’t have a photographic memory?! It’s true, and yet to my surprise …… I made a 96!!! I was stunned. If I can do it you can too! Take America’s Professor’s online pre-licensing study course. You won’t regret it!

I knew nothing about health and life insurance. That caused me to want to learn and take the Georgia State Insurance test on Life, Accident & Sickness. He does a great job of highlighting key concepts and words that you’ll need to know and finds a way to tie all of it together. Yes, it is impossible to know ALL of it.
