How To Pass
The information on the exams is challenging, and the material covered is not common knowledge. Following AP’s course study guide (included with each course) will give you the best chances of passing your exam on the first try.
Here is what AP recommends, based on our decades of experience:
- Watch all course lectures in order while highlighting and taking notes on our instructor’s key points to remember. Replay any videos you didn’t understand.
- Understand the content well enough to score at least 90% on chapter quizzes. Your first attempt at a quiz will tell you how well you are comprehending the materials.
- Take your state exam as soon as possible after completing the course. The longer you wait, the more you will forget.
- Check for course updates before testing.
ASK questions if you have them!

I hope you post this, I wrote a different review and never received any feedback, Constructive feedback helps, some people need to hear my testimony. There is limited negative reviews on here because I think AP restricts them for reasons.
I recently completed the life and health pre-licensing courses and wanted to share my experience. while I eventually passed the exams on my THIRD ATTEMPT ON EACH TEST, I found the process to be quite challenging and frustrating. the course is 279.00 plus $59.00 for each time you take the tests.
The study material provided by Jack felt outdated in some areas, I encountered several questions on the exams that were not covered in the study materials, which made it difficult to prepare effectively. additionally , I recommend taking the life portion of the exam first and completing the health section afterward, as this approach worked better for me.
the test itself is NOT EASY!!! and the interchangeable terms can be confusing. I found it essential to study the content within a short time frame to retain the information better.
LET ME SHARE THIS- PEARSON VUE was disappointing ONLINE. the proctoring process was excessively STRICT; I was even penalized for using Chapstick during the test, resulting in my privilege to take the life exam being revoked WITHOUT REFUND. this added stress to an already challenging situation and I felt that the testing environment was not conducive to a positive experience. during my health exam, the proctor required me to show my testing space via camera IN THE MIDDLE OF TESTING AFTER WE WENT THROUGH THE CHECK IN WITH PERFORMING THE live video of my testing space, which further distracted me and put me in a distracted mood.
I also discovered other pre-exam programs that offer a first-time guarantee to pass with their materials along with live classes for better engagement for only $20 more. unlike jack’s lectors. this could be more effective option for those preparing for the exams.
on a positive note, I want to COMMEND PAT!! he was very helpful and provided valuable guidance that helped me retain the information better.
overall I believe the material needs to significant update to align better with the current exam standards.
in summary, while I did eventually pass (passed the 3rd time on each test) my experience with the material and the Pearson vue testing process was not satisfactory. I hope this feedback encourages improvements for future candidates.
AP RESPONSE: Hi Mindi, we process testimonials in batches to verify their authenticity and to be more efficient. I knew you were working with Pat so I felt you were taking the steps to get the help you needed. I apologize if your testimonial wasn’t processes as fast as you would have liked. We don’t typically leave two testimonials up for the same course but since you split the exams we will post it for context. As mentioned in your study guide it’s very important that you complete the course in order and in a timely fashion (as you also mentioned), asking questions along the way if you have them (our team is happy to help!), this gives you the best possible chance of passing your exam on the first try. That being said, not everyone passes on the first try as it is a very tricky exam. Having to study the content over multiple months makes it very difficult! I believe Jack does a great job of explaining the trickily worded questions you will see, the pre-test questions (that don’t count) that you will see and the overall difficulty of trying to retain all of the material for the exam. It is a good idea to break the exams up if you feel you are being overloaded with material.
Future students, if you decide to do this let us know so we can enroll you into two separate courses that way you will only be studying to the material you are being tested on at that point. As for a “guaranteed a pass”, in our eyes there is no way to guarantee everyone will pass their exam on the first try. There are way too many factors in play that can affect someone’s testing results, test anxiety, language, course completion, study habits, comprehension of the materials, time taken to complete the course, personal issues, life in general, and the list goes on. What we do understand is that everyone’s situation is a little different and we guarantee we will stick with our students until they pass their exams. Also one thing to keep in mind with the “guarantee to pass” courses is that there is usually some fine print on what qualifies you for that guarantee. Overall, sorry it sounds like you had a poor experience, it’s unfortunate but congrats on persevering and passing your exams. Hope you have a prosperous career!
