FAQs
First, check with your state’s insurance department to see if there are any insurance pre-licensing requirements before you take the licensing test. Some states do not have a pre-licensing course requirement, but some do. Those states that do require a course typically have a list of approved courses that meet a certain hour and education requirement. Make sure that if you are taking this course to fulfill your state’s pre-licensing requirement that America’s Professor is on their list of approved courses (you can also call to verify). If you have already fulfilled your state’s insurance pre-licensing requirements by taking a different course and only wish to take our course as “test prep,” that’s okay too. We have many students who use our practice exams and/or course videos purely as supplemental material for their other course.
While most students live in states that do not require any type of insurance pre-licensing education, states that do require pre-licensing education make education providers go through an approval process. We continue to go through this process state-by-state so please check back to see if we have added any new courses for your state.
After you have finished our pre-licensing course (scoring at least 90% on your review quizzes) it is recommended that you take your state’s insurance license exam as soon as possible. Don’t get your state’s insurance license exam confused with our course’s final exam. We recommend calling your state’s testing provider and setting up your exam time over the phone. This state specific information is provided in much more detail inside your course under the “Licensing Exam Information” section.
Not exactly. However, our goal is for your educational experience to be a positive one! If you are dissatisfied with your pre-licensing course, please let us know as soon as possible. We will make it right. If you haven’t started your course and return the book unmarked in new condition, we will provide a full refund. *Refunds will be credited to the original payment method.
If you are unable to pass the exam within your course subscription time, send us an email or give us a call at 1-800-870-3130 and we will extend your subscription for free until you pass. If you are not successful on your first exam attempt, email us your failed exam report and we can provide customized study recommendations and guidance for your next attempt. Please only send these reports in if you have completed your course 100%. We will not provide recommendations if you have not completed your course.
We are committed to getting you through the insurance licensing exam!
If you don’t pass your exam, please send us a copy of your fail report to info@americasprofessor.com. Our Content Specialists will gladly take a look at your score report and make recommendations on which chapters to study given your areas of weakness on the report. Please only send these reports in if you have completed your course 100%. We will not provide recommendations if you have not completed your course.
If you purchase a course for yourself, you will have instant access right after your purchase. You will start with an initial 100-day subscription. If you need more time to pass your exam, you can request a free course extension.
If you are purchasing a course for someone else (option selected during checkout), access to that course begins when you start it. If you are an employer or purchaser who bought courses for someone else, you will use the “Manage Licenses” area to send out course invitations. Once your student accepts the course invitation, they will be enrolled into the course with an initial 100-day access period. If they need more time to pass their exam, they can request a free course extension.
Here’s the deal … America’s Professor TEACHES the content students need to know to pass their license exam. The lecture videos are the heart and soul of our courses. We only use questions as a tool to gauge how well students understand the material they have been taught. Chapter quizzes, on average, have around 20 to 40 questions. After each chapter, we get one chance to test your knowledge to see what you know. The first time you take a quiz gives you a pretty accurate assessment of how well you know the information in that chapter. If you scored 50% you probably know 50% of the content in that chapter (better go back and rewatch the lecture videos!).
Memorizing the answers to the questions you got wrong and then retaking the quiz doesn’t mean you know and understand the content you missed. You will fail the license exam if you simply just try to memorize questions. Their questions will always be differently worded but over the same content. Knowing the content well enough to be able to teach it to someone else is the best way to prepare for your exam. Please trust our proven path to success.

How To Pass
The information on the exams is challenging, and the material covered is not common knowledge. Following AP’s course study guide (included with each course) will give you the best chances of passing your exam on the first try.
Here is what AP recommends, based on our decades of experience:
- Watch all course lectures in order while highlighting and taking notes on our instructor’s key points to remember. Replay any videos you didn’t understand.
- Understand the content well enough to score at least 90% on chapter quizzes. Your first attempt at a quiz will tell you how well you are comprehending the materials.
- Take your state exam as soon as possible after completing the course. The longer you wait, the more you will forget.
- Check for course updates before testing.

I can’t say enough great things about this course. Jack used humor and concise explanations to make difficult material easy to understand. The end of the chapter and comprehensive exams was critical practice in preparations for the licensing exam.
However, it is my opinion, I highly suggest MORE practice exams to use as preparation. The wording of questions is what trips up the response to the right answer. I was able to find a few free health and life insurance practice exams to use for practice.
For those who are considering taking a course, take it seriously and relisten to the videos a couple of times or so! You can miss a number of key points Jack discusses the first time around. Listen to the chapters twice, first time highlighting the book, the second time make flash cards. Take the end of the chapter test at least twice and each comprehensive tests twice or so.
After a “few” meltdowns and thinking you are not able to retain the information, the support from customer service is outstanding! They are there to listen and provide positive feedback that is encouraging. The support team’s motto “you can do this” is reassuring!!
You do get your money’s worth and very prepared. All the best to all who take the course and good luck!
AP RESPONSE: Congrats on passing your exam! Be careful with the freebie practice exams available online. Often they are not totally related and cause more problems then they are worth!
I just wanted to say THANK YOU! I took another in person course and it was hard to comprehend, even attempted the exam 2 x’s without passing; I decided to sign up for yours to see if there was a better way to learn this – and the way that you did your classes made it so easy to understand and I finally passed it first try with you! So, Thank you! The book actually arrived the night before my exam and the book was written so well – I read thru it the night before and it felt good to be so confident in the test answers! I told my boss, so anyone new will be doing your course as well. THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!
This test review was the best! I did both the South Carolina Life, Accident, and Health and the Property and Casualty course and they both were extremely helpful. I passed each exam my first try. The videos were set up nicely and the quizzes were really helpful in letting me know what I retained. I would 100% recommend to anyone who has to take any producer exams!
I found this course useful. I liked the control of being able to speed up the videos and rewind them. Jack had useful tools and tricks to help remember difficult terms. There were things that weren’t touched on in the course that did apply to my WA State P&C Exam, though. Thank you for the work you are doing at America’s Professor to help us pass our exams!
AP Response: Congrats on passing your exam! Be sure to reach out and let us know what topics you had trouble with so you can help future students. 🙂 Thanks!
The Life Insurance course is WONDERFUL! Just took my test for the first time and PASSED! Thank you, Professor Morton! Your memorable stories and examples made the course work easier to recall and comprehend. The review questions are a GREAT help in understanding not just the answer to the question, but the idea around WHY and HOW which helps immensely for the exam. Well worth the investment and time!!!
THANK YOU!
Thank you so much for the great experience at America’s Professor. The customer service is always so kind. I love the videos as they helped me to remember much of the tougher content. Thanks, Jack, for helping me get fully licensed in Insurance.
America’s Professor is AMAZING!!! I passed my Property and Casualty Insurance Exam on the first try today! Super easy to follow and breaks down the material so you understand it in the best way. Now to start studying for Life and Health. 🙂

I took the Virginia Property and Casualty exam and passed with a 87 on my first attempt. I would have scored higher if I had more time to study. I’m a single mom of 4 and took this after work, school activities while being postpartum. Read, take notes and listen to Americas professor! I can’t recommend this course enough!
