Failed the Montana Property and Casualty Insurance Exam?

For most of our students failing part of the insurance exam doesn’t happen very often, but when it does, we tell our students to brush up on all of their material but to spend a little extra time on certain chapter materials to help pass the exam on their next attempt. First, we need to know a couple of things before we can give a recommendation on which chapters to spend a little extra time on.

  • What part of the exam did you fail? Each insurance exam (Property and Casualty) is made up of two section, national and state.  Knowing which exam and section you failed is the first step to figuring out what went wrong. Be sure to have your failed test score sheet from the test center that reveals your scores.
  • Did you fail the Property Exam? If you did not pass the Property Exam we need to know if it was the national or state section that gave you trouble.
    • Failed Property – National Section: Typically, if a student fails the national portion of the Montana Property Exam they have had trouble in one of the following areas:
      1. Types of Polices – The Homeowners and Dwelling material is usually the number one chapter that we tell students to study, then we recommend going back over the Commercial Building and Personal Property (BPP) and Business Income/Extra Expenses material. Make sure you are scoring at least 90% on our review questions.
      2. Policy Provisions and Contract Law – This is a tougher issue but is covered primarily in our section 1 text book materials (Chapters 1-5). Again, if you purchased your course from America’s Professor, we are here to help so give us a call 800-870-3130.
      3. Insurance Terms and Related Concepts – This is another tough issue to nail down because these concepts are covered in various places throughout your AP textbook.
    • Failed Property – MT State Section: The clear cut solution here is to go over the state chapter again, videos and review questions.  Make sure to score at least 90% on your review questions.
  • Did you fail the Casualty Exam? If you did not pass the Casualty Exam we need to know if it was the national or state section that gave you trouble.
    • Failed Casualty – National Section: Typically, if a student fails the national portion of the Montana Casualty Exam they have had trouble in one of the following areas:
      1. Types of Polices –  The Commercial General Liability (CGL) material is usually the number one chapter that we tell students to study, then we recommend going back over the Personal Auto Policy, Workers Compensation and Commercial Crime materials, respectively. Make sure you are scoring at least 90% on our review questions.
      2. Policy Provisions – This is a tougher issue but is covered primarily in our section 1 text book materials (Chapters 1-5). Again, if you purchased your course from America’s Professor, we are here to help so give us a call 800-870-3130.
      3. Insurance Terms and Concepts – This is another tough issue to nail down because these concepts are covered in various places throughout your AP textbook.
    • Failed Casualty – MT State Section: The clear cut solution here is to go over the state chapter again, videos and review questions.  Make sure to score at least 90% on your review questions.
  • Did you fail the Surety Exam? If you did not pass the Surety Exam it’s very important that you review Chapter 22 – Surety Bonds in our manual. Be sure to know the material in this chapter well enough to score at least 90% on the chapter review questions.

Remember that you need to study all of your course material to be sure you’re ready for anything the exam throws at you. The next exam you take will not be the same as the one you failed.  There are a large number of questions in the testing center’s question bank to pull from so you will probably not see the same exact questions again. Give us a call if you have any questions, 800-870-3130.

I have taken the property part 3 times and failed, do you have review questions for the property state part?

Hello Lynne, Sorry to hear that you have failed the exam 3 times with your provider. Unfortunately, we only have a full MT Property pre-licensing course with review questions. We don’t separate out our test bank. I think some other companies do though but I’m not sure which ones. Please let us know if you have any other questions. Thanks and have a great day!

The Surety portion of the test has questions that are not even in the book. I know because I memorized that small chapter in and out. I’m now on Suretypedia trying to get some new insight because I also went through the videos again to see if I missed anything. I have tested above a 90% on the Surety portion in the review, and like I said have memorized that chapter. What more can I do?
