Thank you, America’s Professor, for the knowledge that I acquired on your online classes. What I’ve learned from you can never be quantified. Passing the Accident and Health Exam is a great stepping-stone for me to enter into the Medicare Agent Industry.
I would definitely recommend America’s Professor to those who are needing to get a license.
Thank you, Shelly, for your assistance.
More power America’s Professor!
I passed my property & casualty exam, adjuster exam on one first try. This online class is really helpful, especially the Question Review Exercise. If you watch all the video lectures & do all the exercises, you should pass the exam without any problem. Plus, it is very convenient 24/7/365 for people who a busy life. I was also given multiple extensions! I want to thank the entire Americas Professors Team!!!
America’s Professors is a great study tool! I was studying to take my license for Property & Casualty. I was using another program before and I failed both exams. I continued to study with the other program, scheduled my exam, was referred to try America’s Professors, but failed again. I was discouraged to take the exam again but going through the study materials and understanding it, there was WAY more clarity in the information being said! What also helped was that there were lecture videos to go more in depth with the information, the other program I used a PDF text to study and you had to purchase flash cards and the video lectures separately. I don’t know how he did it but Jack Morton was able help me memorize the information with his interesting comparisons! I will definitely recommend America’s Professors to anyone I come across looking to get their license! Mahalo AP for all of the elaborate knowledge and thank you for helping me pass my exams and onto getting my license! Mahalo and Aloha!
First, I would like to thank Jack Morton for sharing his knowledge and giving me the confidence in taking my test. I am still taking the course but I am not nearly as nervous as I was in the beginning. Jack has done an amazing job ensuring that the material is being retained by giving great examples and clearly explaining his points. He greatly emphasizes that he is teaching what we need to pass the test and that is my kind of teacher! One with an understanding that we aren’t going to go into the test with everything memorized completely or that it will even be relevant once the testing is over. There has been a few, and I mean very few, spots where Jack mixes up his words but he’s extremely fast to catch is and correct it, as to not leave you confused. I find myself engaging with Jack like I’m actually in a class and answering his questions aloud. Like I said, I haven’t taken the test yet (I take it in just a few days) but I do feel pretty confident that I will do just fine. I am really glad I took this course and I’m positive anyone else who takes this course will feel the same! So, thank you Jack (and Nancy also! You’ve been a huge help as well with all the examples used!) for helping me with my career goals!
Professor Morton did an amazing job with keeping me engaged & providing methods/examples that really triggered “remembering” the answers during the exam (Like the cousin Eddie examples, LOL). I did exactly as he instructed & crammed the studying into 9/10 days (versus studying for weeks & weeks & taking the chance at loosing everything you learned at the beginning). I took both exams (one today & one yesterday) & passed both! I am amazed at how ON-POINT & EFFECTIVE this program is! Thank you professor Morton for your sound teachings! It is because of you that I passed both exams just like that!! Hands down, this program is the best & worth every penny. HIGHLY recommended to anyone that wants to pass that exam on the first try!
I GOT MY LICENSES IN BOTH PROPERTY AND CASUALTY!!! I recommend this course to everyone. The material is very easy to understand as long as you are taking notes and going over everything prior to the exam. The practice exams are very helpful as well. Thank you again Americas Professor and I will definitely be back for my Life & Health course!
I wanted to get licensed in life and health for Hawaii. I have been licensed for P&C since 2007, but am now and independent agent who is selling commercial- workers comp and TDI. We need to be licensed in Life and health to sell the TDI portion, and since my husband recently used Americas Professor to get his P&C license, I figured I would also use them for my life and health. I am so glad I did! I studied for about 3 weeks, scheduled the test early on so I world be held accountable for the deadline and I passed both tests on the first attempt! Jack made sure that when he was teaching us the material it would make sense, and only prepare us for what would be needed. Nothing more nothing less. Thank you very much to Jack and the whole team for making this a bit more bearable for me 🙂
Thank you so much, Jack and AP staff members! I was able to pass the P & C Producer’s (Hawaii) exam on my first try! Jack’s lecture videos were very enjoyable to view, he points out the core points for you efficiently, and his sense of humor and the stories he inserts here and then makes it so easier to understand. Also whenever I had questions in prep for the exam, the staff members kindly provided prompt and helpful replies. I have a full time job, study time was limited, but with the all-inclusive course package, and by following what AP told me to do, was able to take the exam with confidence and passed in a short time! From my experience, I can say look no further, I highly recommend AP! Thank you so much again!
Failed using another system paid for my company 3 times. Just couldn’t seem to remember it all. 1st try after listening to Jack and all his stories that put the learning in perspective for the actual job. Tests after every section that you can take as often as you need with feedback telling you what you got wrong what the right answer is and why. Excellent course!
Great study guide! I retain information just by reading books and taking notes so I did not watch any of the videos for the national portion, however I did for the state portion just to be sure I was ready. Hawaii does their Casualty and Property exams separately and each one only took me about 20 minutes because I could confidently answer all of the questions. I passed the first time I took both exams. Looking forward to using America’s Professor for my Life and Health exams as well.

How To Pass
To get your Hawaii life insurance license or any other license, you must first pass the Hawaii state insurance license exam.
The best way to prepare for the exam is to enroll in a Hawaii insurance license exam prep course through America’s Professor. Our comprehensive online courses teach you everything you need to know to pass the exam.
If you’re like most students, you probably have lots of questions, like how hard is the exam, what score do I need to pass, and how do I sign up? Keep reading for answers to all these questions and more.
Is the Hawaii exam difficult?
All the insurance licensing exams are challenging. Whether you’re testing for a Hawaii Life insurance license or a Property & Casualty insurance license, the exams are designed to test your knowledge of key concepts and terminology.
Test authors often attempt to make the exams even harder—by turning a question into a negative, for example. Or they may write answer choices that are designed to confuse you. The better prepared you are for the exam, the less likely you’ll be thrown off by these tactics.
How many questions are on the Hawaii insurance exam?
The number of questions varies by exam. Exams for single lines of authority (e.g., Life only) have fewer questions than combo exams (e.g., Life, Accident, & Health).
Here are some examples:
- The Life exam has a total of 101 questions and a time limit of 2 hours to complete. The exam includes 85 scorable questions, and 16 “pretest” questions, which do not count toward your score.
- The Property & Casualty exam has a total of 206 questions and a time limit of 4 hours and 15 minutes to complete. The exam includes 174 scorable questions, and 32 “pretest” questions, which do not count toward your score.
Refer to the Hawaii Content Outlines and the Candidate Handbook for more information about the number of questions and time limits for each exam. Both are available for download at: https://home.pearsonvue.com/hi/insurance.
Note: The number of questions is changing slightly for each exam, effective July 18, 2022. See the Hawaii Content Outlines for details.
What score do I need to pass the exam?
In Hawaii, you need a score of 70 to pass any insurance exam you take.
There are two parts to each exam: a general information section and a state-specific section. You need a score of 70 on both parts to pass—the scores are not averaged together.
Your exam will be scored on the spot. You will know right away whether you passed. But you will not be told which questions you got right or wrong.
If you don’t pass on your first try, you can sign up to take the test again after a mandatory waiting period—usually 1-3 days.
Can I take the exam online?
Yes, you can take a proctored exam through OnVUE, a service of Pearson VUE.
“Proctored” means someone monitors you through your computer’s webcam while you take your exam. If this sounds a little uncomfortable, keep in mind that a proctor will also monitor you if you choose to take the exam at an in-person test center.
Learn more about online testing for the Hawaii insurance licensing exam at https://home.pearsonvue.com/hi/insurance/onvue.
Refer to the Candidate Handbook for in-person test center locations and information about what to bring with you on the day of the exam.
Which exam is hardest?
In looking at the Hawaii Property & Casualty exam vs. the Hawaii Life & Health exam, studies have shown that the Property & Casualty exam tends to be more challenging for students than the Life & Health exam. This is reflected in the first-time pass rate data published by the NAIC.
All insurance licensing exams are broken up into two sections: a general knowledge section and a state-specific section. Students report that the state-specific portion of the exam is more challenging, as state-specific insurance laws and regulations can get very granular.
What kinds of questions are on the exam?
The questions on the exam are multiple choice. There are no short answers or fill-in-the-blank questions. But this doesn’t mean they’re easy or intuitive.
The exams cover industry-specific terms like “subrogation” and “indemnity.” These terms are not common knowledge. You don’t hear them in everyday conversation. Yet, you must know what they mean.
The questions are chosen from a large pool, and each exam contains a different set of questions. You will not see the exact same questions as other students.
Our students report that around 1/3 of the questions are on terminology, 1/3 are number/day questions, and 1/3 are situational questions.
When should I start studying?
The experts at America’s Professor recommend that you start studying 10-14 days before your scheduled exam date and dedicate a total of 35-40 hours to studying. This is the typical length of an in-person course, and it’s the amount of time most students need to fully grasp the material.
Find a quiet, distraction-free place to study and put yourself on a strict study schedule. Continue studying right up until the day of your exam, but don’t wait until the last minute to cram—research shows this is the worst way to study.
There is a lot of information to get through in preparation for your exam. Give yourself plenty of time to study.
Why should I take an AP course?
America’s Professor has been helping students get ready for their insurance licensing exams for more than 30 years. Our founder, Professor Jack Morton, has always strived to make learning fun. He uses real-world examples to help you make sense of complex insurance terms and concepts—and retain the information.
When you sign up for a Hawaii insurance exam prep course, you’ll get instant 45-day access to our streaming lectures, which you can watch anytime, anywhere it’s convenient for you (internet access required).
We will also mail you a hardcopy textbook, which you can use to study right up until the day of your exam. And it’s all backed by our exceptional customer service.

Best decision I have ever made!! I flew through my exam with 47 mins left!!! Wish they would have given an actual score, it just said that I passed.
Thank you for such an amazing course, the YouTube videos and course books made all the difference. The former program I used was boring, you kept me engaged and eager to keep going through the material!
