Georgia Insurance Adjuster or Public Adjuster Exam Information

How Hard is the Adjuster Exam in Georgia?

Not hard, but not easy… Many of our Georgia students are taking our Approved Georgia Property & Casualty Agent Course so that they can fulfill their Adjuster, or Public Adjuster, pre-licensing requirement. The State of Georgia requires that each candidate complete a 40-hour Property & Casualty (P&C) insurance course, that has been approved by the licensing department, prior to taking the Pearson VUE licensing exam. Fortunately for our students, we have the specific Georgia Adjuster content covered in our Georgia Property and Casualty course. Please keep in mind that Approved GA Property and Casualty courses are not required to cover the Adjuster and Public Adjuster material but ours does!

A list of insurance exams given by Pearson VUE for the state of Georgia is listed below. More information can be found at Pearson VUE’s Georgia page. As you will notice, even though Adjusters have to take a Property & Casualty course, they still need to take a specific Adjuster Exam (#24) or Public Adjuster Exam (#20). If you look at the Test Content Outline (TCO) for the Property & Casualty Agent and the Adjuster’s Exam you will notice they are almost identical except for the addition of 9 or so questions that will be asked specific to Adjuster content (Responsibilities & Duties).

After passing your Adjuster or Public Adjuster exam there’s more to getting an Adjuster job.  Our students have recommend a nice person by the name of Terry Freeland who has not only a lot of real world experience but also offers certifications for day-to-day Adjuster skills (Xactimate, Rope and Harness, etc.) via his website American International Technical Institute.

Please check with America’s Professor (800-870-3130), Pearson VUE (800-274-0488) or the Georgia Agents Licensing Department (800-656-2298) if you have any questions.

Hello Mariah, No you can start right away since the book chapters are also available in PDF format. The username and password for the online portion of your course will be emailed to you minutes after purchasing the course. The 40-hr approved course requires that you complete the course and put at least 40 hours of study time in. The video lectures run about 24 hours but all of your study time counts (videos, reading and review). Please let us know if you have any other questions. Thanks!

Hi Joan,
There is a pre-licensing course requirement (Property and Casualty) to get your Adjuster license. Technically you can take the exam with out taking a course but before you can apply for your license you will have to have a certificate of completion from an approved course. Our Georgia Property and Casualty course or Adjuster/Public Adjuster course will enroll you into a Property & Casualty course and includes the required supplemental Adjuster information. Please give us a call if you have any other questions. 😉

Hi John, Looking on the Pennsylvania DOI website I didn’t see anything for a non-resident Public Adjuster (just resident Public Adjuster) so you might want to give them a call and check. My guess is that if you obtain your Resident Public Adjuster license in Georgia (provided your are a resident of GA) you can easily apply for the Pennsylvania Non-Resident Public Adjuster license without a problem. Good luck!

I am interested in becoming a P&C adjuster and I know of the requirements for Georgia. I am interested in insurance companies that provide training after you receive P&C Georgia licensing, do you know of any in Georgia or nationwide? Thank you.

Hi Samuel, Most companies offer training but if I were you I’d call Terry Freeland at AITechInstatute.com and chat with him. He has a lot of “Real World” experience that goes far beyond our “Test World” focus. 😉 Good luck!

Hi Gayle, Unfortunately yes, your experience doesn’t let you bypass the red tape/certificate of completion requirement. So you will have to complete the PC course again and test. Please let us know if you have any other questions. Thanks!

Hello, I am currently studying for my adjusters and p & C. My questions is do I have to read the Kaplan P & C insurance license exam prep book in order to prepare to take my insurance claims adjuster exam? Or can I just prepare with the information i received just for the adjusters? Let me know if i need to clarify. Thanks!

Hi Brian, Kaplan is a competitor to us so I don’t know exactly how they set their material up. But, if it’s like our material you will need to know all of the PC content plus the Adjuster content. 91% of the exam questions are based on PC material with the rest being Adjuster material. If Kaplan’s Adjuster material is a small supplement then you would definitely need to read both. Good luck!

How do I pass the Georgia Adjuster exam. I took it once and I failed and I score very low on responsibilities and duties of adjuster. I want to pass the exam and I have the P&C book

Hello Emmanuel, Most approved Georgia P&C courses will also include a supplemental section for Adjusters to either take the Public Adjuster Exam (12-GA-20) or the regular Adjuster Exam (12-GA-24). Ours is included inside of our course but not inside the book as it’s a small section. I’d check with your approved course provider to see where the information is. Let us know if you have any other questions. Good luck!

I currently have a Texas claims adjuster license. I want to be able to do public adjustment in GA. Is there a way to convert to public adjuster?

Hi Mike, That would be a question for the Department of Insurance in Georgia (800-656-2298). It’s possible that they while let you convert it when you move. Good luck!

Hi Tiffany, If your certificate of completion is still valid (1 year) from your PC course you can simply go and take the Adjuster exam with Pearson VUE. If not, you will need to complete another approved 40-hour GA Property & Casualty Pre-License course and then take the Adjuster exam. Please give us a call if you have any other questions.

Hi Tiffany, You need to complete a 40-hour Georgia approved Property & Casualty course (like ours) then pass the GA Public Adjuster exam (12-GA-20) with Pearson VUE and apply for your license. You will also need a $5,000 bond (GA Rules and Regs). As far as finding live class providers, please see here to start your search via Sircon. Select Approved Courses Inquiry then select Georgia > Pre-Licensing > Classroom > Property & Casualty > Submit. Good luck!

Hello Abebe, To sell auto insurance you would want a Property and Casualty license. The be an auto insurance Adjuster you would probably just want the regular Adjuster license unless you are going to work with a Public Adjuster company. Good luck!

I’m taking a Property and Casualty course through Examfx but I’m still confused on whether or not it prepares me for the adjuster exam or if it is only to be a P&C insurance agent?

America's Professor - DCM
America's Professor - DCM

Hi Brittany, There is an additional Adjuster section that most approved course providers add to their PC materials to help prepare students for that extra Adjuster specific material/questions. We put it at the end of our course so you might check yours. We cover the material because we have a lot of Adjuster students! Good luck to you and I hope you course has the specific Adjuster material you need.

Hi Stan, I don’t think that is a common practice but I think it could be feasible. You would just need to make sure you check with both the Public Adjustment company you are working with and the Independent Adjuster Firms you work with. Again, I don’t think it’s a common practice but they should be able to tell you what they allow specifically. Good luck!

Georgia regulations (rule 120-2-3-.06, section 3) do not allow you to perform or hold a license for both at the same time.
